Lyrics :

Dead stars are burning in the sky
Their light reflecting in your eyes
And here the ravens they don’t show
Where I’ve been, you don’t want to know
And when I go upstream
I’ll meet you in a dream
And as I try to land
Please let me hold your hand
Our ship exploded in the sky
A strong reflection in my mind
And now the secrets they won’t show
I’m stuck here, won’t you let me go
And when I go upstream
I’ll meet you in a dream
And as I try to land
Please let me hold your hand
Songwriters: Benoît BUSSER / Jimmy KINAST / Julien PRAS
A three-piece Bordeaux stoner project MARS RED SKY gave a first cry in the winter of 2007, by mere chance – Julien PRAS and Jimmy KINAST met at a tiny club in Bordeaux for the Berlin Vs Brooklyn show. With a fusion drummer Benoit BUSSER recruited, they started playing heavy / noisy psychedelia much influenced by 70s stoner rock like Black Sabbath. Encouraged by their first concerts in Bordeaux with a big cheer from the well-amazed audience, MARS RED SKY soon made a decision to record their material in the Bardenas Desert (Spain) with a big help for recording and mixing by Pierre Fillon. Their works have been crystallized into their eponymous debut album in 2011, finally.
On a winter night, Julien Pras and Jimmy Kinast met at a tiny club in Bordeaux for the a repetitive math-rock duet Berlin Vs Brooklyn’s concert. The surprise that awaited them was huge: behind the drums, Benoit Busser was a perfect fusion of John Bonham and Todd Trainer. Blown away by his technique, Julien and Jimmy imagined forming a band together to achieve their musical fantasies. Up to this moment, Julien Pras was currently promoting the 5th album of his band Calc and was dreaming of noisy psychedelia with Big muff pedals and plenty of reverberated guitars. Next to him, Jimmy Kinast, who played bass during the 90’s in several noisy pop bands, was feeding the same desire. It wouldn’t take long before Benoit and Julien started working together. After three jubilant and productive rehearsals, Jimmy joined them on bass. Obsessed by the ‘70s, from Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin, and more recently by Dead Meadows and the band witch, the three of them formed Mars Red Sky.

ounded in Bordeaux a decade ago, Mars Red Sky ignited a spark through in the stoner scene with thickly layered riffs and floating psyched out melodies. It was 2011, however, which saw the band ascend with the release of their eponymous debut full length. A shot in the arm to European psych, swimming in a different direction to the standard flow of the scene, MRS rightly earned the attention and support slots of mammoths of the underground, Kyuss Lives and Sleep. Following up with 2014’s excellent Stranded in Arcadia, Mars Red Sky quickly became not only one of the hottest bands in the French stoner scene, but one of the most exciting in Europe.

By 2016’s Apex III – Praise for the Burning Soul, Mars Red Sky had grown into a band unafraid to take influence from ever more delicate sources. Though don’t be fooled into thinking the heavy root of Mars Red Sky’s sound disappeared; the meaty hooks are still the foundations upon which the band builds.

Sungrazer (Limburg, Maastricht, Netherlands)

“Sea” (written by Sungrazer) A3 track included on the album “Mirador”

Released on Elekrohasch Schallplatten ( EH 150) on 8th July 2011

Lyrics :

Givin ‘room, hard to blame
It isn’t all what they say
Do I know, water grows
Is it all gonna blow?
And I drown it, once again
Riding the way along the sea
Telling me: “oh, why don’t we leave”
Follow the crowd, follow the heat
Watchin ‘the strip hittin’ down below
Flowin ‘around nowhere to go
You wanna know how to leave
Waving the haze on your own
Could you be tomorrow
Paint the nighttime red
Like the sea
Colour my horizon
Be my Daily Bread
Like the sea

Line-up :

Rutger Smeets / guitar, voices
Hans Mulders / drums
Sander Haagmans / bass, voices

SUNGRAZER were formed as a Dutch heavy / psychedelic / stoner rock trio by Rutger SMEETS (guitar, voices), Hans MULDERS (drums), and Sander HAAGMANS (bass, voices) in early 2009. Gaining wide musical view by lots of gigs with other experienced stoner rock artists like ROTOR or COLOUR HAZE, or appearing on stage of Roadburn Festival, Stoned From The Underground Festival and so on, they made a formal contract with Elektrohasch Records and released their eponymous debut album in the following year. In July 2011 they released their second album “Mirador” via Elektrohasch Records.

In 2010 Sungrazer played many gigs, like Pinkpop and the Dutch TV show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. They signed with Elektrohasch Records in May and their first album was pressed on CD and LP. They also signed with international booking agency Sound Of Liberation, which resulted in many great gigs through Europe.

In 2011 they toured through Europe for 18 days with Colour Haze and Rotor. They also played with bands like Fu Manchu, Karma To Burn and Goatsnake. And they got to play on the Roadburn Festival, Stoned From The Underground and at Duna Jam.

On July 8 2011 they released their second album called Mirador. In April 2012, Sungrazer played DesertFest London at the Camden Underworld. They released a split album with The Machine in February 2013 on Elektrohasch. Sungrazer disbanded in June 2013.[1] Only days before their gig at Duna Jam and a 2 month before their last confirmed gig at the Lake on Fire Festival.

Rutger Smeets started the band Cigale, later Hans Mulders also joined that band. Rutger died in 2015. Sander Haagmans plays in his own band, called The Whims Of The Great Magnet.

Little Free Rock was an English late 1960s psychedelic hard rock trio from Preston in Lancashire, England.

It featured Peter Illingworth (lead guitar and vocals) (born 21 July 1943, Inglewhite Road, Longridge, Lancashire) (formerly with David John and the Mood who recorded with Joe Meek), Paul Varley (drums) (later with Arrows) and Frank Newbold (bass and vocals). They began performing covers of The Who, The Creation (“Makin’ Time” appeared on their album) and Tomorrow, but were soon doing mainly their own compositions.

The band performed regularly at the Roundhouse Sunday Night Implosion events and had numerous residencies at the Marquee Club. As well as performing all over Belgium, continental trips included the Star-Club in Hamburg, the Essen Jazz and Blues Festival, and festivals in Frankfurt, San Tropez and Santa Margarita de la Costa in Italy.

They changed their name from Purple Haze to avoid confusion with the Jimi Hendrix single.

Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) joined the band for a short period, but the recordings were never released.

Line-up/Credits :

Bass Guitar – Eric Kitteringham

Drums – Norman Damery

Producer – Tommy Scott

Written-By – R. Gallagher

Lyrics :

Everyone is saying what to do and what to think
And when to ask permission when you feel you want to blink
First look left and then look right and now look straight ahead
Make sure and take a warning of every word we’ve said
Now you lay you down to sleep make sure and get some rest
Tomorrow is another day and you must pass the test
Don’t try and think too different now what we say is best
Listen little man you’re no better than the rest
Don’t lay beside the wayside all around the road we’ve set
Smile and look happy fool or we’ll throw you in the wet
Now if you learn your lesson well and step upon the line
Save your breath until forever we should get along just fine
We’ll bend your heart until it breaks make sure you feel no pain
We’ll be the one to crush you and give you to the rain
But now you want to run away oh can I see you run
Run across the frozen air try resting on the sun
And if you feel it burn you don’t yell out in pain
Or wish you had a velvet sponge full of soothing rain
So let’s have that stiff upper lip now take a long deep breath
Close your ears you cannot hear the rules are all pre-set
You thought we were illusions but we meant the word we said
We’re in command, you tiny fly, we’ll crush you till you’re dead.

Lyrics :

Days go by but I don’t seem to notice them
Just a roundabout of turns
All these nights I lie awaken on my own
My pale fire hardly burns

Never fell in love with the one who loves me
But with ones who love me not
Are we doomed to live in grief and misery
Is it everything we’ve got?

I’m the mountain, rising high. It’s the way that I survive
I’m the mountain, tell my tale. The greatest story’s now for sale
I’m the seaside, I’m the waves. I’m the one that makes you crave
I’m the valley, I’m the hills. Look at me I’m standing still

I’m the mountain, I’m the plains. tell me now am I insane
I’m the spirit, I’m the source. I’m the root I am the doors
I’m the road, long and hard. running out of my heart
I’m the mountain, climb me up. And we never gonna stop

I’m the locker, I’m the key. I am who you want to be
I’m the reason, I’m the blame. I will never be the same
Mirror mirror tell the truth of the old ones and the youth
Of the things we hide deep from ourselves
Mirror mirror show me now what will I become and how

For now I’m just a Mountain
I’m the Mountain

Down the road that leads me to the Headley Grange
I see a figure of a young man
He’s torn with doubts, mistakes, his selfishness and rage
But doing all the best he can

I’m not so blind to see
That this young man is… me
